July 2018: Year 8 and Year 9 students visit Gurdwara and Mandir

On 13th July 2018, Year 9 students visited the Sikh Gurdwara in Northampton as part of their work in Ethics. They found out about key Sikh beliefs, rituals and worship and had the opportunity to ask questions about the faith to practising Sikhs. Seeing and experiencing a real gurdwara for themselves brought the topic to life.

On 16th July 2018, some of our Year 8 students visited the Hindu Mandir in Wellingborough as part of their Ethics work. They enjoyed looking at the different statues of various Hindu gods and finding out about important Hindu beliefs and how these are shown through worship and daily life and had the opportunity to ask and answer questions about the faith to practising Hindus. The Hindu priest performed ‘Arti’, a key element of Hindu worship, for students to see whilst they were there, which brought the religion to life for the pupils.
